evaluation

when looking at my induction piece and comparing it to my final piece it is obvious just how much my skills have increased since the beginning of the year.
i have also learned new techniques and how to manipulate images how i want them to be, this means that I do not have to position my work around the image i can position my images around my work.

my magazines have changed over time because i have learned more of the techniques and the conventions meaning i know what needs adding and what doesnt.

My media product follows the conventions of the genre I am covering by, making sure to use the same three main colours throughout the front cover, contents page and double page spread, by using the same colours throughout the magazine I have made sure to keep it all looking like it is from the same magazine, by using all three colours it also makes sure that the magazine has continuity throughout it. By keeping some of the fonts the same, the magazine has a flow of continuity throughout it but by changing some of the fonts it allows the magazine to push across that it is not conventional, and even though I have not always used the same fonts throughout I have made sure to have all of the fonts complement each other and I have made sure to have the fonts relevant to the genre of rock.

Continuity has been followed across by using the same artist across all of the front cover, double page spread and contents page, by doing this it shows that the main focus of the magazine is going to be the one on the front cover. To reemphasise the fact that it is the same artist I have included the same image edited on the contents page, this draws the reader’s attention to the image and the page number matches the one on the double page spread, this creates continuity between the double page spread and the contents page.

I have not followed the conventions by changing the design of the pages this makes the main image stand out, I have not followed the conventions conventionally but have instead followed the conventions of metal hammer and of other magazines in my genre, this is apparent in the contents page which has a different colour background to the rest of the magazine (being a grey colour and the rest being black) this makes all of the columns stand out on the contents page.

Mainly however my magazine follows conventions and looks how most other magazines in my genre look.
