Costume and makeup ideas

tops- band t- shirts, corset, t-shirts custom made t-shirt designs.

bottoms -  these could be Jeans, Skinny Jeans or anyother materials that suit the genre ( metal, pvc, lycra)

Shoes- new rocks, boots, osiris.

Make-up this could be something simple such as thick dark eyeliner and black mascara, or something more complex such as having the models entire face painted, this could be done to create a look that is recognisable to the genre but is at the same time something unique and individual towards my model.

The image above where the model is infront of the newspapers would make a great double page spread becuase my model is shot with a long shot and so would fit in with the conventions of double page spreads. the image is also well lit and so would not have problems being edited.

shooting location ideas

The location Ideas I could use for shooting my front cover would be the Graffiti works around Hull as these are quite strange and  quite well designed. they would also fit in well with my choosen genre because the scremo genre is quite dark just like some of the graffiti designs around hull.

one of the other ideas would be outside of hull library  because it has stone walls and is easy to get high angle and low angle shots from the side of the building.



I was also thinking of using my models bedroom due to there being posters on all of the walls related to the genre which I am using for my photoshoot. this location would also be useful becuase i can control the amount of light getting on my model and also have greater control over the images.

Another idea would be to use a backdrop for the model and add the location onto the back of the model this could be achieved with a blank well lit back ground, this means i could go out without the model take my initial images about the location and place them behind the model. This offers versatility because I can change locations without having to edit the model shots, this also means that i can take pictures where my model could not be seen (due to improper lighting).

Price and frequency

the magazines sell for various prices, most magazines i looked at are monthly magazines this helps consumers buy it because they do not have to keep buying new ones. the monthly release also helps because it means that readers are not going to miss an edition of a magazine because it remains in shops longer.

the average price for one of the music magazines was between £2.50 and £3.00 and so to make my magazine appear cheaper to readers I would sell if for £2.00 to start with so it appeared cheaper than the rest and then change the price to £2.50 to bring it up with the conventions of magazine pricing, but still make it appear cheaper than other magazines on the market.

My magazine will be released every month because looking on my demographics research and my targeted group of people (lower class + working class) a release every month would mean that people can afford to purchase and they can easily collect the issues every month, because it is a monthly readers will also believe that it is cheaper but they are still buying all the issues because they believe it to be cheaper than it actually is even though they are buying all of the issues.


By releasing every month it helps to build more content because more things happen over a month than they do over a week or bi-weekly, this means that the magazine will have more interesting detailed information and will have more content targeted at the readers, it also helps to keep a grip on the genre the magazine is appealing to.
